Bulk Eats Warehouse — B2B and B2C on one Shopify Plus store

Ongoing Shopify Plus development for Bulk Eats Warehouse, a Melbourne online store selling groceries, café supplies and catering in bulk to businesses and households. The store was already live when ForTech joined in 2023, first for iPantry and, from 2025, for Jolly Eats Trading. Most orders come from business customers, so much of the work is making Shopify’s B2B features work with the rest of the store.

PROJECT STORY

From problem to product

  1. 01

    The challenge

Bulk Eats Warehouse serves both business and retail customers, but mostly businesses. Shopify’s B2B features, including B2B customers, companies and company locations, separate wholesale and retail prices, and products shown only to business or retail customers, conflicted with other parts of the store, including the search and filter app and the shipping app. When ForTech joined, the store was harder to take on and more complex than iPantry Australia.

  2. 02

    What we built

ForTech worked through the problems step by step with the client until every one was resolved. B2B customers, companies and company locations now work alongside the rest of the store, with the right wholesale or retail price and the right product range for each type of customer. As with iPantry, ForTech moved the store off its old search and delivery apps and cleaned their code out of the theme, then made the replacements work with B2B. The store also runs ForTech’s custom apps and extensions: delivery method filtering with a Shopify Function, a delivery date picker, a bundle popup and a Cart Transform function for bundles in the cart.

    What the website enabled

Business customers sign in to see their wholesale prices and B2B-only products, retail shoppers see the retail range, and search, filters and shipping behave correctly for both. With the conflicts resolved, new work builds on a stable store.
