iPantry Australia — a grocery store, improved every month

Ongoing Shopify Plus development for iPantry Australia, an online store for groceries, specialty pantry items and gift hampers. ForTech joined in 2023 through The Natives and from 2024 worked directly with iPantry. In 2025 the contract moved to Jolly Eats Trading, which now runs iPantry. ForTech took on requests every month until the Australian store became part of the global iPantry store (ipantry.com) in 2025.

PROJECT STORY

From problem to product

  1. 01

    The challenge

Grocery delivery has more moving parts than most stores. What can be delivered depends on the customer’s state and suburb, orders are delivered same-day, next-day or picked up, and gift hampers are built from many products. The store relied on third-party apps for delivery and search that needed a lot of configuration, and it was already live, so every change had to fit a running business.

  2. 02

    What we built

ForTech worked through a monthly list of requests: new features, UI/UX and page speed improvements, ordering, packing and shipping integrations. For gift hampers, ForTech set up the product bundle app it built for the group’s stores, then configured it and customised its “Customise & Add To Cart” popup for iPantry Australia. Delivery and pickup ran on a third-party app, and ForTech solved many issues around it: location rules, same-day and next-day delivery, Click and Collect and a “Where are you?” state selector. ForTech also built theme sections such as a video hero with separate mobile images, and set up, configured and wrote custom rules for the store’s search app across the iPantry Australia catalogue.

  3. 03

    What the website enabled

Shoppers could see what was available where they lived, choose delivery or pickup, and build their own hamper with the price updating as they went. The team launched campaigns from the theme editor, and the store kept improving each month until it was combined with iPantry UAE into the global iPantry store (ipantry.com).
